Ventura County Animal Services officials are asking for the public's help assembling 208 dog beds Saturday morning at the Camarillo shelter.

The beds, donated by community members, are an elevated cot-style Kuranda model. The dog beds arrived unassembled, prompting the request for assistance.

The bed-building operation will run from 9 a.m. to noon outside the Camarillo Animal Shelter at 600 Aviation Drive, near the Camarillo Airport.

You'll need to bring your own tools: a 7/16-inch wrench and a Phillips screwdriver — preferably electric.

Volunteers may want to bring shade canopies, folding tables and chairs, if desired, since the work will be done on the lawn outdoors.

Attendees are asked to park on the street, leaving the parking lot open for shelter business.

No reservations are needed. Power tools will be present, so organizers recommend parents who bring children take that into account.
