In a relief for candidates appearing for both the Maharashtra State Public Service Commission (MPSC) exam and Bachelor of Education (BEd) CET exam, the state has declared a change of date for the BEd CET paper.
Earlier, both the important entrance tests were scheduled on the same day — August 21. Aspirants who had applied for both exams were worried. They were compelled to choose one exam over the other.
However, after they put forth their grievances, newly appointed higher and technical education minister Chandrakant Patil said in the Legislative Assembly that students will be given an alternate date to appear for the BEd exam.
Mahesh Badhe of MPSC Sangharsh Samiti said, “Thousands of students have applied for MPSC as well as BEd CET exams. However, both the exams were scheduled on the same date. Thankfully, the state government listened to students’ demands and pushed the dates of the BEd paper. Higher and technical education minister Chandrakant Patil said that another date will be given for the exam. This decision will benefit students who were in a fix earlier.”
Kuldeep Ambekar, founder, Students Helping Hand, told Mirror, “Students have been demanding proper coordination and communication between the MPSC and CET cell before planning the exam timetable. This would have avoided education loss to lakhs of students. We appreciate and welcome the state government’s decision to postpone the BEd CET date.”
Chandrakant Patil, higher and technical education minister, said, “Since both the exams were on the same day, aspirants were worried. But the state government has taken a decision and students appearing for MPSC and BEd CET exams will be given an option to take both exams. They should contact the state CET cell immediately.”
