"Your son is lucky the burn hole is small," one commented on the photo of the damaged mattress.
On these freezing winter nights, families are turning to heating devices to help get a good night's sleep.
But as one mum discovered this week, some can involve a safety risk. The mum posted in an ALDI fans Facebook group that the ALDI electric blanket on her son's bed had "caught on fire."
Luckily, no one was hurt - but it's definitely something to watch for with any electric blanket.

Posting in the Facebook group with photos, the mum asked: "Just curious if anyone has any issues with electric blanket, my son's one has caught on fire and the cord literally split in half and burnt a small hole on base of mattress."
The photos showed a broken cord, and a deep black burn on the mattress.
Members of the group were glad the child was not harmed, with one mum commenting, "Your son is lucky the burn hole is small."
But some expressed their concerns about electric blankets in general.
"I did read on her another family had the same issue a few weeks back," one wrote.
Another mum shared a scary tale: "Stopped using them after a concerning incident 20 years ago. Child placed folded laundry item on top of bed, electrical blanket was on. After several hours scorching had occurred to the sheet and doona cover between the electric blanket and clothing.
"By scorching I mean the items were burnt black, extremely hot and I believe not far from igniting."
Others revealed how they minimise the fire risk of electric bedding, with one mum writing, "To err on the side of caution, I turn it on to warm the bed so it's nice and cozy to crawl into, but I switch it off at the mains when I get into bed."
Another added, "I only put mine on when I get in, it's on for about 20 minutes then it's turned off as I've warmed up enough."
Finally, one group member asked which model the ALDI electric blanket was, as "There was one specific model recalled several years ago," referring to the 2017 recall.
According to the ALDI website, the only current recall is on the 2010, 2012 and 2013 Lumina electric blanket.

A post in the group last month discussed the risks versus comfort of electric blankets from ALDI, and it seems that opinions were divided.
"Bought my electric blanket a few years ago now and no issues whatsoever," one said.
"Got the queen size two weeks ago and it's amazing, works great," gushed another.
A third wrote, "I I have one and it's great... heats up, been using it every night [as] I feel the cold terribly."
The most enthusiastic was this review: "Had an ALDI King electric blanket for probably 15 years and it never missed a beat!"
But others were not so impressed, with one sharing, "Mine stopped heating after two weeks."
Another noted that hers is "very slow to heat", while one complained hers is, "slow to heat, and then not nearly hot enough."
The only consensus in the group about the ALDI electric blanket was that, as with any electrical device, they need supervision.
